Pairing your handheld device with Billings on your Mac.

These steps are designed to walk you through the process of pairing your handheld device with Billings on your Mac. Please ensure that you're running the latest version of Billings and Billings Touch.

1. Verify that the computers firewall is 'off'. This also applies to any third-party firewall software (i.e Intego NetBarrier).

2. Ensure that your iPhone/iPod Touch and your Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network. You can create an ad hoc computer-to-computer network if you wish: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8339.html
Note: Internet synchronization is not supported.

3. Launch Billings Touch on your iPhone/iPod Touch.
Note: In the Welcome screen, select the option to 'Pair with Billings Mac'. If this option hasn't been selected, your device name will not appear in the devices list in Billings on the desktop computer.

4. Launch Billings on your Mac.

*5. Choose Billings > Preferences and select 'Touch' in the toolbar.
You should see your device name listed. You will also see any open Billings Touch devices that are also running.

**6. Select your device name and click the 'Pair...' button. A drop down sheet should appear with a 4 digit synchronization code.

7. On the iPhone/iPod Touch, a passcode window should appear. Enter the synchronization code that is displayed on the Mac.
Note: For users that have already entered data in Billings Touch, a sheet should open specifying which Billings data should be kept. You can opt which data set is used by clicking 'Touch' or 'Mac'. Select Touch if you want your Billings Touch database to be copied onto your Mac. Select Mac if you want Billings on your desktop to be copied to your device.

8. When the passcode has been entered, the first sync will be initiated. When syncing is complete, you can start working.
Note: If the passcode hasn't been entered within 2 minutes, the display will revert back to the previous screen. To initiate the sync process again, click the 'Cancel' button in Billings on the desktop computer and then click the 'Pair' button again.

Additional notes:

*During step #5, in the event that your device name doesn't appear, restart Billings & Billings Touch. Attempt to pair the device again.

*During step #6  in the event that the passcode window doesn't appear, close Billings Touch by pressing the 'Home' button on your iPhone/iPod Touch. Relaunch Billings Touch and then attempt to pair the device again. In the event that this still doesn't work, remove and then reinstall Billings Touch. This should only be undertaken by users that haven't added any data to Billings Touch yet. When you have reinstalled Billings Touch, attempt to pair the device again.

*Continuing from the last step, if you're still unable to pair Billings Touch with it's desktop counterpart, try the following steps:

-Restart Billings Touch.
-Tap 'Start from scratch.'
-Skip through the setup process.
-Restart Billings on Mac.
-Open the 'Touch' preference panel and verify that the handheld device is visible.
-Click the 'Pair...' button.
-Click the 'Use Mac' option when prompted which database you would like to use.
-Enter the four digit code on the handheld device.
-Allow the sync to complete.
